It is a time to aspire our service to God! God made you an original, and He has a unique plan for your life. Psalm 139:13-14 (NIV) says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful….” As we study His Word, we discover the truth about who God created us to be—who we are in Christ.
In many occasion, we struggle of our fulfillment and thoughts from other people. We live to please other people and sometimes we forget who we are. Most cases we are bitter because of other people and not because of who God created you.
In Genesis 1:26 God says “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness”. Thus, He finished His work with a “personal touch.” God formed Adam from the dust and gave him life by sharing His own breath (Genesis 2:7). Accordingly, humanity is unique among all God’s creations, having both a material body and an immaterial soul/spirit.
“God is spirit” (John 4:24) and therefore exists without a body. However, Adam’s body did mirror the life of God insofar as it was created in perfect health and was not subject to death. The image of God (Latin: imago dei) refers to the immaterial part of humanity.
Jeremiah 18:1-6 this is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.
As we live in this world we need to careful and follow the flow of the potter, there is no way you will go against the potter and be useful.
The question is, are you useful? What quality makes you a useful person?
Some people we look at ourselves being useful even though we are like spare tire. We only become useful when someone is sick or busy.
When you read the bible you will be surprised with excuses people used to give when asked them to do something. Even today some of us we give the same excuses. One thing you need to know God is ready to use you not as spare tire. He want you at full capacity in your calling.

When you are not doing anything, means unfruitful person.

John 15:1-8 The True Vine
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you willask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
From Commentary “Bearing Fruit”
The promise of “abiding” in Jesus is not for its own sake, nor an end in itself. Jesus imagines and promises a dynamic and changing life for the disciple community. Vines are pruned and cleansed. Branches that wither and die are removed. This points to a constantly changing community that is called to be up and doing. This is a relationship of purpose and power. As if to underscore the call to the exercise of discipleship in the world, six times in this brief lesson the image of “bearing fruit” is raised
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). What does that mean?
It means to do what he says in a way that makes him look supremely valuable in himself.It means to submit to him in a way that makes him look thrilling (Excitement and pleasure). There are ways to submit to God that only make him look threatening, not thrilling. There are ways to do what he says that only call attention to the fact that he is an authority, not a treasure.
That kind of service is not the service God commands. What’s the difference? The difference is that God has told us not to serve him as though he needed anything. “Nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything” (Acts 17:25). “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).
“God is seen as glorious when all our serving is moment-by-moment receiving from God’s supply.” Both these texts put all the emphasis on God’s giving to us when we serve. So the kind of service that makes God look valuable and thrilling is the kind that serves God by constantly receiving from God. The key text to describe this is 1 Peter 4:11 — “Whoever serves, [let it be] as one who serves by the strength that God supplies — in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.” God is seen as glorious when all our serving is moment-by-moment receiving from God’s supply. We receive this supply by faith. That is, we trust moment by moment that what we need, in serving him, he will supply (“life, breath, and everything”). This is the opposite of being anxious. Such serving is happy. And it makes God look no less authoritative, but infinitely more desirable. This is the glory he means to have. The giver gets the glory.
Therefore, “serve the Lord with gladness” (Psalm 100:2).
