{"id":7016,"date":"2021-08-08T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-08T06:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dpc.or.tz\/?post_type=ctc_sermon&#038;p=7016"},"modified":"2022-02-11T16:11:27","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T13:11:27","slug":"offer-to-god-the-sacrifice-of-thanksgiving","status":"publish","type":"ctc_sermon","link":"https:\/\/dpc.or.tz\/?ctc_sermon=offer-to-god-the-sacrifice-of-thanksgiving","title":{"rendered":"OFFER TO GOD THE SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WHAT IS GIVING THANKS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giving thanks to God is expressing your gratitude to God from your heart through words, prayers, songs, music and substances<strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Psalms 50:14 NKJV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Offer to God thanksgiving, And\u00a0pay your vows to the Highest.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Psalms 118: 1-4 NKJV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0<em>Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.<\/em> <em>2 Let Israel now say,\u201cHis mercy endures forever.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>3 Let the house of Aaron now say,\u201cHis mercy endures forever.\u201d<\/em> <em>4 Let those who fear the Lord now say, \u201cHis mercy endures forever.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>THE BIBLE COMMANDS US TO GIVE THANKS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li><strong>GIVE THANKS TO GOD FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Psalms 116:12,17 NLT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/psalms\/116-12.htm\"><em>12<\/em><\/a><em>What can I offer the LORD<\/em> <em>for all he has done for me?<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/psalms\/116-17.htm\"><em>17<\/em><\/a><em>I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>and call on the name of the LORD.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Whoever gives thanks to God honours Him.&nbsp;&nbsp;Psalms 50:23 (NIV)<\/li><li>&nbsp;It is recognizing God\u2019s greatness in your life.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It is an act of glorifying God and not yourself.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2 Chronicles 5:12-14&nbsp;&nbsp;NIV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>All the Levites who were musicians\u2014Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun,<\/em> and their sons and relatives\u2014stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets. 13 The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals,<em> and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cHe is good;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u00a0his love endures forever.\u201d<\/em> <em>Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, 14 and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>When you thank God for what He has done you experience more blessings.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>THANK GOD&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;FOR WHAT HE IS DOING IN YOUR LIFE<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lamentation 3:22-23<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/lamentations\/3-22.htm\"><em>22<\/em><\/a><em>The steadfast love of the&nbsp;LORD&nbsp;never ceases;<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/esv\/lamentations\/3.htm#footnotes\">b<\/a><\/sup><br>his mercies never come to an end;&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/lamentations\/3-23.htm\"><em>23<\/em><\/a><em>they are new every morning;<br>great is your faithfulness.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>God shows us His love and kindness every day. His mercies are fresh every day.<\/li><li>Give thanks every day because His grace is with you no matter what you are going through.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RESPOND TO HIS KINDNESS BY GIVING THANKS.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Every step you take give thanks, every achievement give thanks.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>EZRA 3:10-13<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/ezra\/3-10.htm\">10<\/a> When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the\u00a0Lord, the priests in their vestments and with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their places to praise the\u00a0Lord, as prescribed by David king of Israel.\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/ezra\/3-11.htm\"><em>11<\/em><\/a><em>With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the\u00a0Lord:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cHe is good;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>his love toward Israel endures forever.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the\u00a0Lord because the foundation of the house of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0was laid.\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/ezra\/3-12.htm\"><em>12<\/em><\/a><em>But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the former temple, wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy.\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/ezra\/3-13.htm\"><em>13<\/em><\/a><em>No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>GIVE THANKS TO GOD FOR WHAT HE IS GOING TO DO IN YOUR LIFE<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>57But thanks are to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>GOD IS FAITHFUL TO FULFILL HIS PROMISES FOR YOU<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Give thanks to God for His unfailing lov<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DANIEL 6:10-12 NIV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. 11 Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help. 12 So they went to the king and spoke to him about his royal decree: \u201cDid you not publish a decree that during the next thirty days anyone who prays to any god or human being except to you, Your Majesty, would be thrown into the lions\u2019 den?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Daniel believed that God will save him from his enemies. \u2018<\/li><li>He gave prayed and gave thanks to God for his victory<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RESPOND TO EVERY SITUATION WITH A THANKSGIVING ATTITUDE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PHILLIPPIANS 4:6-7<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6&nbsp;<em>Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EXAMPLES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Jonah gave thanks when He was the bell of the fish<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jonah 2:7-10 ESV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Jon 2:7&nbsp; When my life was fainting away, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Jon 2:8&nbsp; Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Jon 2:9&nbsp; But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the LORD!\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Jon 2:10&nbsp; And the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In 2 chronicles 20&nbsp;&nbsp;King Jehoshaphat and the nation gave thanks In the battle field and God gave them victory<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Paul and Silas in the prison prayed and praised God. Acts 16<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Job said I know my redeemer live he shall stand at last on the earth.
