REJOICE THE SAVIOR JESUS HAS COME.
MATTHEW 1: 18 – 21
– Christmas is the time of rejoicing and cerebrating – in Christ Jesus
– Rejoicing for the Savior Jesus has come – the Savior of humanity
– Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ – the Son of God / Emmanuel
– Christmas is our time to celebrate our faith, hope, & love in Christ Jesus
– Christmas is a time to reflect on the generosity and kindness of God
– A time to commemorate God’s love and gift to the world through Jesus
– A time of thanksgiving – that Jesus was ready to leave His kingship, for our redemption
Why Should We Rejoice:
1. JESUS CAME TO SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS – MATTHEW 1:21
– The people Jesus was born for / came to save is me and you
– Jesus came to set us free from sin and every devilish bondages
– This is why we celebrate Christmas with joy and gratitude
– We rejoice for the Savior has come and what is doing is great – ISAIAH 9:1-6
– There will be no more sorrow since our Savior is the Prince of Peace – Vs. 1, 6
– We no longer walk in darkness instead we have seen the light – Vs.2
– Our joy has been increased and no one could give such joy to us – Vs. 3
– We have been reconcilled back to God by our Savior himself – 2 CORINTHIANS 5: 18
2. THE SAVIOR JESUS IS OUR SHEPHERD – MATTHEW 2:1-6
– Normal context – a shephered is a person employed to tend sheep
– Church context – is a person called to guide or watch over the people
– Jesus came as a King, Yet he took up the role of a Shepherd of his people
– Our Savior Jesus is a good shephered set to watch over us – JOHN 10:10
– As a good Shepherd is set to care and give us life to the fulllest
– Jesus is a shephered reday to lay his life for the sheep – Vs. 14-16
– His love and passion included even the sheep out of his sheep pen
– Think through his readness to leave his Kingship position in heaven for us
– He was even ready to be born in a manger of animals – LUKE 2:1-6
– Born in a manger of animals – Yet a King and the heavenly host confirmed – Vs. 8-14
As I conclude, let us celebrate and rejoice during this season knowing that the Savior Jesus is the reason for our joy and celebration. Let us rejoice and celebrate the way we can, but without abusing the reason for the celebration. Marry Chrismas to us all
