TRUST IN THE LORD AT ALL TIMES

TRUST IN THE LORD AT ALL TIMES. ISAIAH 40:28 – 31; PSALM 62:8

INTRODUCTION

  • To trust– to rely or depend on someone, to believe someone is reliable, honest and faithful.
  • To trust in the Lord means – to rely completely on God’s character, promises, guidance and power.
  1. GOD IS ETERNAL AND ALL POWERFUL

Isaiah 40: 27 – 28; Psalm 90:2; Psalm 62:8

Isaiah 40:28 Do you not know?Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Psalm 90:2

from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.

Isaiah 40:29   He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

The weary and weak – related but they emphasize different conditions and different help.

Weary – tired, exhausted, won out due to challenges.

  • Elijah – feels weary and exhausted – asking God to kill him (1King 19:1 – 8)
  • But God gives him strength to move on.

Weak – incapable, incompetent, powerless, unable to do things.

  • Gideon – Gideon feels incapable, insignificant and powerless.
  • God gave him power and courage to face and defeat his enemies.

3. GOD’S STRENGTH ENABLES HIS PEOPLE TO RISE ABOVE CHALLENGES.
Isaiah 40:30 – 31; Job 19: 19 – 20; 25 – 26

Isaiah 40: 31 …but those who hope in the Lordwill renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.

Job 19:25  I know my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God.
