YOUR TREASURE DETERMINES YOUR HEART’S DIRECTION.
Subtheme: You need to live for an Eternal Inheritance
Matthew 6:19–21; 1 Peter 1:3–5
INTRODUCTION: WHAT IS YOUR TREASURE?
The original language here talks about “a storehouse or valuable item.”
A treasure is anything we consider valuable, precious, and worthy of our time, attention, resources, and commitment. It may include money, property, family, education, career, reputation, achievements, or spiritual realities.
Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Where you invest your treasure reveals where your heart truly belongs.
Lessons:
1. WHAT WE TREASURE SHAPES/CONTROLS OUR HEART.
Matthew 6:21, Proverbs 4:23
2. REVISIT YOUR (SPIRITUAL) PRIORITIES.
Matthew 6:33, Proverbs 4:13, Philippians 3:8–10
3. JESUS HAS SECURED OUR ETERNAL HEAVENLY INHERITANCE.
1 Peter 1:3–5; John 11:25–26; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 15:19–22.
CONCLUSION: Our true treasure is our inheritance in Christ—imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us.
1 Peter 1:3–5, Colossians 1:5
1 Peter 1:3–5

Colossians 1:5: the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel;
