SEEK GOD AND HIS STRENGTH
1CHRONICLES 16:11-18
The scripture is part of the thanksgiving song to the Lord from David. This was after the Ark of God was brought and set it in the tabernacle where David had prepared for it in Jerusalem –1Chronicles 16:1,4,7. The Ark was brought from the house of Obed-edom where it had stayed for three months and broughtmore blessings – 2 Samuel 6.
Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!(NKJV – Vs.11)
Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. (NLT – Vs.11)
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. (NIV – Vs.11)
David worked hard to bring the Ark of the Lord because he knew the value of the Ark – represented the presence of Godand the blessing that goes along with the Ark. Similar to this, in life People / Companies seek and search for something valuable. Because of its value, others go far and invest a lot in what they are searching for. Think of the investments put in the mining industries! This is due to what is expected in return – more valuable, expensive, profitable, and in demand all over the world.
Seeking for God and his strength is therefore criticallyrequired for believers. Not just for our present needs/issuesbut for our eternity and the future glorious life in heaven.
#1. SEEK GOD AND HIS STRENGTH CONTINUALLY
– Seeking the Lord draw us closer to him and we remain connected in his presence
– It is a sign of acknowledging the sovereignty of God and how we need him

– God is looking for people who seek him – PSALM 14:2
– We seek him with an assurance of his existence and rewarding – HEBREWS 11:6
– The moment we have God and his strength – we have all what we need
#2. SEEK GOD AND HIS STRENGTH BECAUSE HE IS GOOD
– Reflect on this phrase “God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good”
– The Lord’s goodness to us is revealed through what is doing to us
– The wonders and miracles God does and is doing to us always – Vs. 12
– We seek the Lord since He is our God throughout our lives – Vs.14
– Seeking him allows us to test, see, and experience his goodness – PSALM 34:8
#3. SEEK GOD AND HIS STRENGTH BECAUSE OFHIS COVENANT
– God established an-ending covenant with Abraham our father – GENESIS 22:18
– Under this covenant, we are now heirs of the very covenant – enjoying God’s blessing, protection, and provision – GALATIANS 3:7-8
– The covenant has made our salvation possible through Christ – GAL.3:14,16
– The covenant enables us to trust in God, and walk in faith just like our father
– The covenant reminds us the faithfulness of our God and pushes us seek him
In conclusion, we are to seek God at the first point because of who is he, and not just because of his strength, power, and miracles. Let us seek him continually, because of his goodness, and the fulfilled covenant in our lives that today we are saved by faith.
