TRUST THE LORD FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL MATURITY

TRUST THE LORD FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL MATURITY

PROVERBS 3:5-6    ACTS 2:42-47

– To Trust in the Lord is to believe, expect, hope, acknowledge, and have confidence in the Lord

– TRUSTING GOD is an essential element in Christianity

– The Bible encourage believers to trust in the Lord

– Trusting in the Lord makes God direct our ways and plans

– The Scripture insists on “acknowledging God” because true trust begins by acknowledging God, His wisdom, and His plans & ways.

– The knowledge from God helps us to make the right choices

– Trusting in God is having an active confidence in God

• ATTRIBUTES – all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere – DANIEL 4:35

• PROMISES – they are all Yes, and Amen – 2CORINTHIANS 1:20

• PLANS & WAYS – the plans and ways of God are higher than ours – ISAIAH 55:8-9

– All these encourage us to trust in the Lord in many areas of our lives, including our spiritual growth and maturity, knowing that:

– SPIRITUAL MATURITY leads believers into becoming more like Jesus – an ongoing process of growth – PHILIPPIANS 3:12-14

– God expects believers to grow from taking “milk to solid food” – that is, spiritual maturity – 1PETER 2:2

– Spiritual maturity can be evident in a believer’s day-to-day living when it comes to Bible study, Prayer life, Christian Fellowship, Service to God and Stewardship – ACTS 2:42- 47

– In line with the activities reported in Acts, as we have just read, let us now take time to look at the aspect of PRAYER AS ONE OF THE KEY CONTRIBUTORS TO OUR SPIRITUAL MATURITY (our take-home)

 We all know what prayer is and what prayer does to a believer

 Prayer is a spiritual tool used to seek & find God – MATTHEW 7:7-8

 Prayer is also a tool used to resist & rebuke the devil – JAMES 4:7

 This is why we ought all of us to be prayerful people

 We are to pray always with all kinds of prayers in the Spirit and on all occasions – EPHESIANS 6:18; and continuously – 1 THESSALONIANS. 5:17

 It is good to pray alone, but based on Acts, cooperative prayers should not be ignored (like the three weeks of prayer we have)

 It is also important to pray for others and their needs – ACTS 12:5

 Our prayer ought to contain zero hypocrites; instead, they must focus on our Father in heaven – MATTHEW 6:5-6

May I conclude by encouraging all of us to continue trusting in the Lord to the end. Let us trust in God and hope that He will grow us in the area of our prayer life in 2026 and all the days. May we continue and remain to be prayerful believers so we can experience the results for ourselves, DPC, and the entire body of Christ.
