What is Life Planning?

Life planning is a vision or direction for life-based on your personal goals and values.

  • It helps you to achieve the objectives/goals faster
  • It focuses your acquisition of knowledge and helps you to organize your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your life.
  • You can measure and glorify God in the achievement of those goals
  • Why Planning?
  • You recognize your own ability and competence in achieving the goals that you’ve set
  • Without planning, you will arrive/reach anywhere!

  • S-Specific plan has a bigger chance to succeed. What, who, where, which, when, why
  • “Get in shape.” Vs “Join a health club and workout 3 days a week.”
  • M-Measurable. Concrete criteria for progress and achievement. How much, How many,
  • A-Attainable. Set achievable plans. Develop the attitudes, abilities, skills, and financial capacity to reach them.

  • R-Realistic. Willing, able and environment allows. Did someone achieve it? It is possible to set high and realistic
  • T-Time: There has to be a time frame. “I want to do masters! Vs I want to do master’s in finance in 2017”
  • How Do You Start Planning for Your Life
  1. Identify Your Purpose.
  • Why on earth? Consider several pillars (Spiritual, family, community, social, career and business, Finances etc).
  • Can start by the elimination of what is not your purpose
  1. Identify where are you now 
  • Use the pillars above to identify where you are. Eg, Are you in the right direction spiritually, peacefully? Values?
  • How Do You Start Planning for Your LifeSet Goals and take action. Go back and forth from your purpose, goal, and actions.
  • Check which roles you will self-play and which role you will play through others. Eg. Investment
  • Do you need a mentor/Do you have a mentor/ counselor/professional advise?

  • Establish Specific Action Steps

  • Some Tips on Things that will Make Difference in Your Life.
  • When you are sober, calm, in good mind, normal….then…..Make decisions very fast
  • When you are angry, confused, in panic or emotionally unstable…then…avoid or delay making decisions
  • In planning and taking actions there may be “waiting time” but what you do during the “waiting time” will make a lot of difference.
  • Resilient Life Planning is “No Quitting/How far can you stand against odds” However know on what and when to quit. Eg past decision/historical impacts, relationship
  • Resilient people have someone they can turn to for support and advise. Proverbs 16:18
  • Strictly stick to your plans but don’t be afraid to change your plans if need be
  • Successful people fail a lot, but they try a lot, too.
  • Don’t put more effort into buying a new phone (liabilities) than into planning and working on things that will add value in your life (Nick)

    Important Tips….some more!

  • Use your time well. Time is very scarce. Plan in such a way that time is fully well utilized
  • Who is making most of the decisions in your life – you, those around you or your circumstances? Responsibly and humbly start taking charge in making a decision for your life

  • To be successful, you need family and friends, but to be very successful, you need enemies, competitors, challenges.
  • Attitude and Values are the two of the most important assets you have.
